The picture presents the participants of the 2nd QED Workshop in Warsaw,
1995. Almost in the centre - the honoured guest of the Workshop John
McCarthy (white shirt, white hair and beard). Right behind him, with a
lesser beard, in a brown hat - Andrzej Trybulec (Warsaw University) the
author of a checker called Mizar.
Now let us look from the right side. At the extreme right, the tallest
participant, Roman Matuszewski - the organizer of the Workshop on
behalf of the Department of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science at
Warsaw University. Next to him Robert Boyer - the author of a famous
prover, specially merited for the QED project. Closely next to him, in the
second row stands Ingo Dahn. Next to left in the same row, a bit
distanced (a striped shirt) - Piotr Rudnicki. Further, in the same
row (an orange shirt) - Andrzej Tarlecki. The white Montana hat just
above McCarthy belongs to Randall Holmes, the tall figure at this
hat's level (behind the sole lady in the group) to John Harrison,
while the black moustache (and a white shirt) - to Manfred Kerber.
The fourth from left, in the front row (a small beard, spectacles) is
Deepak Kapur.
Not only those listed above are known for their achievements in
automated reasoning. Other eminent persons are not mentioned, sorry, because
of gaps in the knowledge of the present narrator (who offers apologies,
hoping to win more acquaintances in a further collaboration).
